Looking to connect with other Linux/Unix admins in the Austin area

Submitted by scarolan on Fri, 10/10/2008 - 10:12am.

I would like to network with other Linux system administrators and engineers in the Austin area. It's always good to have more friends in the industry. Post here or email me at scarolan@alum.mit.edu if you'd like to get together over coffee or even just exchange contact info.

Regards,

Sean

I'm primarily a software developer, so I don't do a lot of sysadmin work on a regular basis anymore, other than my own desktop and home servers. In the past I've worked in small company environments where I had to do more sysadmin work. I still like to keep up with what is going on with the community, and more industry contacts are always good.

There are several *nix groups in town, but I take it you aren't pleased with their lack of activity and/or focus not being where your interest is. Perhaps something more akin to the C/C++ Meetup that Matt Weigel runs would be more along the lines of what you are thinking?

I'm not a programmer but I probably would be interested in the C/C++ meetup. Do you have more info?

There seems to be a lack of focus on Linux system admins in Austin - I am trying shed light on that desire.

I encourage you follow http://Twitter.com/AustinLinux and will try to make a point to identify the server admin specific content.
